Taqueria Viva Mexico has some good ambiance and pretty alright food. There is no ac, but plenty of ventilation. The 2 tacos with a drink deal seemed like a good choice, but I went with their version of a super burrito. Burrito has refries beans, which worked out okay. I'm not very used to it that way. It also didn't come wrapped in foil or anything, so the second half of it I was forced to eat with a fork and knife due to me eating the first half like an animal. Others in my party claimed that the refried beans and avocado kept the burrito together so I didn't need foil or anything.
What really made this place great is the salsas. The table salsa has something in it that I can't pinpoint that makes it just greatly delicious. Maybe it's oregano? Sounds like heresy but it was delicious.
The kicker is that there is a statue in the corner of a guy with a hat that says "me valle madre". It got me laughing. -

All right, let me just start by saying here that I always eat here when I eat Mexican in my native adopted hamlet of Alameda.
Now my personal preference is the chicken burrito with sour cream, beans, rich and cheese and a bonus nacho platter. Your own may differ. But trust me--they know how to make it.The place is a personal preference of mine--more than the other, more popular "restaurantes" like La Penca Azul or Taqueria.
Whenever I walk in, they recognize me instantly. They know me, they know my regular. They make me feel like I'm home. They know who I am there and are always happy to see me come in, to be the one giving them the business. The owner makes personal small talk with me. As a friend, as a brother. He asks about me. About my life. What I'm all about. What I believe.
Yes. We all know there are a lot of Mexican eateries on the Isle of Alameda. And... this has to be my favored.
Now, it's doesn't have as beautiful and elaborate a decor as say, Penca Azul. But... it's the kind of dining hall where you go for the food. And I have to say... no one else in Alameda makes a chicken burrito quite the way they do.
Not for me, anyway...
They're all good people there. And... they can make a mean chicken burrito.

Ummm yeah not sure how I feel about this place.
I'll cut to the chase. Customer service is great. Venue is clean. Next to the movie theatre and located in down town Alameda
Food was disappointing. I've said it before and I stand by my word if the salsa is good then the food is good
Well the salsa was watery. We were there at around 7pm so not sure if maybe it was stale/dated salsa but at any rate it was super watery.
I ordered a shrimp taco and a fried fish taco. Not happy. It was just blah. No flavor on either taco.
On another note no beer wine available either I went on a Tuesday hoping to catch a taco Tuesday deal and there is none. Wompers -

6 Tacos 27$ wow I thought okay I'm a believer in getting what you pay for so i was excited to get some tasty tacos, I was very disappointed. The tacos where bland and dry, salsa tastes like water and salt it was just disrespectful to the taco. I should have just went to taco bell smh called to get my money back but they act like it's my fault they didnt taste good
